How I spent my weekend.

Skip pointed to a WAPO article talking about the �typical� red state republican. It�s pretty sickening. The piece goes on and on about how this man is the �typical� red stater because he goes to church, loves hamburgers and god, kisses his daughters, etc. Unlike say, the typical "blue" stater who we can only assume from this article feeds off the blood of dead fetuses, worships idols of Osama Bin laden and watches endless hours of child pornography.

Then they mention that he goes to Freerepublic.com. The only description given in the article about it is that they call themselves the "the premier conservative news forum."

Pretty laughable. TO anyone that isn't aware, Freerepublic is full of hate filled bile spewing right wing lunatics whose members do things like call all democrats traitors who love terrorists, compare democrats to Hitler, advocate assasinating prominent democratic politicians, and on and on..

Being a typical blue stater, I decided to put down my crack pipe, wipe the blood of dead babies off my Jesus hating hands and took a gander at the site and found the mans handle is treeclimber. A report by a joint Congressional committee last year alluded to a "closely held intelligence report" that month about the threat of an attack by Al Qaeda, and the official confirmed an account by The Associated Press on Friday saying that the report was in fact part of the president's briefing in Crawford.

At a Pentagon news conference with President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan, Mr. Rumsfeld echoed his deputy's comments. Neither Mr. Rumsfeld nor Mr. Wolfowitz mentioned General Shinseki, the Army chief of staff, by name. But both men were clearly irritated at the general's suggestion that a postwar Iraq might require many more forces than the 100,000 American troops and the tens of thousands of allied forces that are also expected to join a reconstruction effort.

"The idea that it would take several hundred thousand U.S. forces I think is far off the mark," Mr. Rumsfeld said. General Shinseki gave his estimate in response to a question at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Tuesday: "I would say that what's been mobilized to this point � something on the order of several hundred thousand soldiers � are probably, you know, a figure that would be required." He also said that the regional commander, Gen. Tommy R. Franks, would determine the precise figure.

A spokesman for General Shinseki, Col. Joe Curtin, said today that the general stood by his estimate. "He was asked a question and he responded with his best military judgment," Colonel Curtin said. General Shinseki is a former commander of the peacekeeping operation in Bosnia.

In his testimony, Mr. Wolfowitz ticked off several reasons why he believed a much smaller coalition peacekeeping force than General Shinseki envisioned would be sufficient to police and rebuild postwar Iraq. He said there was no history of ethnic strife in Iraq, as there was in Bosnia or Kosovo. He said Iraqi civilians would welcome an American-led liberation force that "stayed as long as necessary but left as soon as possible," but would oppose a long-term occupation force. And he said that nations that oppose war with Iraq would likely sign up to help rebuild it. "I would expect that even countries like France will have a strong interest in assisting Iraq in reconstruction," Mr. Wolfowitz said. He added that many Iraqi expatriates would likely return home to help.

Yesterday we have Condoleezza, when she wasn�t lying, saying that oh no, it wasn�t a plan, it was a �series of actionable items�, and that they didn�t have any inkling about bin laden striking inside the U.S. after they reviewed the presidents briefing entitled �Bin Laden determined to strike within the United States�.

And today, we have federal marshals seizing and destroying audio recordings of speech by Supreme Court Justice Scalia in which the subject was how he feels the Constitution's true meaning must always be protected.

My theory is that sometime around 1997, all conservatives brains were infected with a microorganism that removed all sense of irony. Which is even tougher when you consider the fact the same thing happened in 1962 that erased their sense of humor.

It looks like Clear Channel Communications has dropped Howard Stern from its syndicated lineup -- which, as far as I'm concerned, represents a golden opportunity for the fledgling Air America network. Why not pick up Stern and add him to the Air America package. Stern's a huge draw. He's better at radio then anyone else Air America, and, like Rush Limbaugh years ago, he's started to become more and more ideological. He's the bridge between entertainment radio and political radio. Sure, his program is trashy. But hey, so is Michael "Savage" Weiner. If Stern were part of the Air America lineup (which, as I understand it, is sold to stations as a package deal), wouldn't that entice a lot more stations to syndicate it? I'm not much of a Stern fan myself, but it certainly seems to make good business sense.

Great idea but it can't happen. Sterns contract is completly different from Air America. Air america, since its brand new, is buying time on stations, which is why they are also allowing webcasts to anyone for free. THis is similar to Rush Limbaugh. LImbaugh doesnt buy time anymore but he DOES give away his show for free to any station that wants it. his profts are from advertising.

Stern sells his show to the markets that have him. WCCC in HArtford pays a fee to be able to broadcast his show. He does this because he can. HE is #1 wherever he goes. HE is a wanted commodity. IF he goes on air america everyone can log into the net and hear him for free. Or listen to the NY am station of air america for him instead of KRock.

It can't happen. At least not until his contract is up. And even then, they couldnt afford him.

Condoleezza Rice is a liar.

Rice gave a press conference on MAy 16th 2002 in which she said:
�I don�t think anybody could have predicted that these people�would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile,�

She then repeated this charge last March in an op-ed for the Washington Post:
Despite what some have suggested, we received no intelligence that terrorists were preparing to attack the homeland using airplanes as missiles


Her testimony, under oath, today, from MSNBC (transcript of her testimony hasnt been amde available yet):
Under questioning, Rice acknowledged that she had spoken too broadly once when she said that no one had ever envisioned terrorists� using planes and crashing them into buildings. She said aides came to her within days and reported that there had been memos about that possibility, but she said she had not seen them.

THis is why people were demanding her to testify under oath. Because she is a LIAR.
