Because face it.
I'm right, and you're wrong.

Yet another example of how completely out of control the Republicans have become.

They want to outlaw my TIVO.

That’s right, the big advertisers don’t like it that I fast forward over their commercials, so now theyre going to make it illegal for me to not watch them.

That last sentence wasn’t exaggerated for ironic effect. They want to make it illegal for me to skip past commercials.

How you say? Well it all came about when this right wing company didn’t like movies with boobies and bad words, so they invented a DVD player that would skip over all of it for the kiddies. The MPAA didn’t like that since they thought it was a form of “censorship”. Personally I don’t see what the big deal is. When I watch Return of the Jedi I always skip the “offensive” parts with ewoks. So what?

So some Republicans slipped in a bill inside the big omnibus Intellectual Property Protection Act that would make this booby skipping stuff legal.

All fine and good. But then, since Republicans are shameless valueless whores who will do whatever theyre told to keep their grip on power, they inserted language in the bill that says you can skip the titties, but you cannot skip past commercials.

Still think im exaggerating?

Heres the actual paragraph they snuck into the bill:

(11) the making imperceptible, by or at the direction of a member of a private household, of limited portions of audio or video content of a motion picture during a performance in or transmitted to that household for private home viewing, from an authorized copy of the motion picture, or the creation or provision of a computer program or other technology that enables such making imperceptible and that is designed and marketed for such use at the direction of a member of a private household, if--
`(A) no fixed copy of the altered version of the motion picture is created by such computer program or other technology; and
`(B)
no changes, deletions or additions are made by such computer program or other technology to commercial advertisements, or to network or station promotional announcements, that would otherwise be performed or displayed before, during or after the performance of the motion picture.

And so it begins.

On Friday, nine female Senators, including Olympia Snowe (R-ME), sent a letter to chair of the Appropriations Committee Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK), requesting that the language of the clause be changed and protesting the fact that the Federal Refusal Clause had not been discussed in committee, nor had it been put to a vote on the Senate floor. According to the women Senators, the clause, sponsored by Rep. Dave Weldon (R-FL), would “allow a broad range of health-care companies refuse to comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to abortion services.

Women of America, these people control your womb.

Take that Baltimore.

Yet another friend of mine who is pissed off enough to start a blog and rant about it. My friend Theron’s blog Reconstruction.

Theron comes from a fairly conservative family. His dad is a Chief of Police with a bumper sticker on his car during the nineties that proclaimed “My President is Charlton Heston”, and a dining room filled with stuffed animals. While he is a Republican, He’s a classic Northeastern Republican. Fiscally conservative, socially moderate to liberal. He voted for Bush in 2000, against my wishes of course, and now regrets it. Even his NRA dad voted Kerry this tiem around, Bush being the disaster he is.

The depths of Tom delays corruption has gone beyond even parody. And the fact that this simply becomes another ho hum story that may get some notice on blogs is just depressing.

At this point, if Tom Delay was found raping drugged up toddlers in his office, he’d simply have the House pass a new law making it legal for House members to rape small boys. Then it would be the subject of a Crossfire where Tucker Carlson would call democrats "whiners" for objecting, they'd figure out a way to blame Clinton, and that would be that.

Welcome to Red Strate America. Where talking incessantly about moral values is much better than actually having them.

Finally!!

Nerd smack talk.

PC's rule.

Via Roger Ailes, we get another glimpse at the sterling moral fiber that is Red State America.

Former Georgia School Superintendent Linda Schrenko, whose groundbreaking political career dissolved into erratic behavior and defeat, was indicted Wednesday on federal charges that she stole more than $500,000 in taxpayer money and spent part of it on cosmetic surgery.

The federal funds purportedly were used to purchase computer services for two state schools for the deaf and the Governor's Honors Program, but officials say the services weren't delivered.

A former teacher and principal whose only prior campaign was a losing race for school superintendent of Columbia County, Schrenko was first elected to head the $6 billion state Education Department in 1994, running a down-home campaign and with a 100 percent approval rating by the Christian Coalition. Once in office, she put personal friends on the DOE payroll, including her pastor and his wife.

And the icing on this shitcake? Shes advocated teaching both the Bible and Creationism in schools.

Fantastic Four footage leaked.

And it looks like shit.

So we can blame dooshebahg Scott Boras for the reason Jason Varitek will leave the Red Sox. Apparently a 5 year 50 million no trade clause contract for a 32 year old catcher seems "reasonable" to him, even though Boras knows full well the Sox have made it public policy to never offer 5 year deals or no trde clauses, and offering Varitek a no trade cluse will autoamtically trigger one in Manny Ramirez's contract which any team would be insane to let happen.

My favorite part is Boras's Ari Fleischer like spinning of why they decided Varitek deserves such a deal:
"This is the time in his career when he has to concern himself with his family."

Yeah, because him taking a 4 year 40 million dollar deal would leave him and his family devastated.

Let the carnage begin. Drilling in Alaska will probably happen now.

Of course despite the BS they tell you, it will do nothing to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, it will do nothing to lower the cost of oil or gasoline, it won't be any cheaper than buying any other foreign oil (OPEC controls the price and always will), and it will destroy thousands of miles of pristine protected wilderness.

This looks pretty cool.

And It's playing nearby.

Asskroft resigns.

Normally this would make me hapy, but this gave me pause.

Aides had described Ashcroft as “exhausted” from leading the Justice Department in fighting the domestic war on terrorism since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Stress was a factor in health problems earlier this year that resulted in removal of Ashcroft’s gallbladder.

Can't we let him stay in there until just a little while longer so his health can be completly shattered?

(and to the Homeland Security person who might stumble across this, that was a joke. I hope youre degenerate, scumbag, civil liberties destroying, voodoo cat worshiping nutbag of a boss lives a long life.).

My favorite line was this:
"The objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved"

Oh really? Can we hold you to that?

Now can we please deduct from his pay the 8 grand he blew because he doesnt like boobies?

And Democrats, if you dont finally grow a pair of balls and start fighting his new appointment, as well as all the others coming down the pike, I'm switching to independant and you aint getting a red cent from me ever again.

General Grievious

So what did Curt Schilling talk about with President Bush on their way to Ohio aboard Air Force One? Not baseball. Appearing on WEEI yesterday with right-wing radio hosts Gerry Callahan and John Dennis, the Sox ace said he and the commander in chief chatted about stem cell research, of all things, during their two-hour plane ride to the swing state. Schill, who gobbled an omelet while gabbing with W., said the president didn't exactly prevaricate but did show some "flexibility" on the issue of federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research.

Then Curt, why did you support Bush and stump for him when you know he's against it? Wait, lemme guess, because Bush is more "godly" than Kerry, the catholic former alter boy?

And careful Curt, you know support the murdering of millions of innocents in the eyes of all your fellow born again brothers and sisters. Except for fertility clinics, thats not murder because if you say that you look bad...

Man, even Tron guy jumped the shark.

Creamy geeky goodness...

Since last year George Lucas has been dropping hints regarding the possibility of a TV series. Today they are no longer hints. On USA Today, the TV series was confirmed by Lucas and now most recently the President of Lucas licensing, Howard Roffman has quoted stating that a live action TV Series will indeed hit airwaves by fall of 2006.

We're Fucked

Using the last polling data, most from Sunday which shows how its breaking, actually looks pretty good for Kerry. So heres my official prediction

Wisconsin.
Latest Zogby poll from Sunday shows Kerry up by 7. many other polls show Bush leading, but Zogby was the most accurate pollster from 2000, so im gonna give this to Kerry. A bold prediction but I stick by it.

Wisconsin: Kerry

Pennsylvania.
This one is easy. Kerry’s been leading, albeit a very small lead, in every poll for almost a month.

Pennsylvania: Kerry

Florida.
Polls show Kerry just got a 1 point lead in zogby’s Sunday poll, the FOX news poll has him with a 5 point lead (but FOX makes sure to mention this quickly and then change the focus to the polls showing him behind), the gallup poll shows Kerry with a 4 point lead (but the last poll gallup uses a weird undecided mathematics to predict how they’ll vote). There are 3 other polls showing bush with a small lead but they are using poll data from last Wednesday on, so it doesn’t account for the clear momentum shift in Kerrys direction.
All that plus the gigantic Get out the Vote effort in the state, millions of pissed of minorities who wqere denied there rights in 200, should make it look good. But I still say it goes Bush. You simply cannot combat the pure evil that is the GOP down there. Jebs still Governer. Those “felons” who were purged from the rolls are still purged. Those electronic voting machines built by huge Bush supporters are already screwing up, the flyers urging people to get out and vote “November 3rd” are all over. Kerry will have more people wanting to vote for him, but he wont get more votes than Bush.

Florida: Bush

Ohio.
2 of the 3 most recent polls show bush with a very small lead. But Zogby has Kerry up by 7. Also, I saw a reporter on VCapitol Gang this weekend saying the ground game there by dems is so good Bush will need at least a 3 point advantage going in to counter it.

Ohio: Kerry

Final Tally:
Kerry 271 Bush 267
