Wow, I bet Bush and Condi never thought the White House press office was going to hand out copies of their completely unscripted and off the cuff notes to each other to the entire media

{Cheney expletive} retards.

During the singing of "God Bless America" in the seventh inning, an image of Cheney was shown on the scoreboard. It was greeted with booing, so the Yankees quickly removed the image.

Having the vice president of the "honor and integrity" adminstration tell a Senator to "Go fuck himself" on the floor of the senate is bad enough, but now this.

US Vice President Dick Cheney said he had no regrets about using the F-word in a confrontation with a Democratic senator this week.

"I said it ... and I felt better after I said it," Cheney told Fox News Channel in an interview in which he also quashed speculation that he might withdraw from the Republican party ticket for the November 2 presidential election with George W. Bush.

Here that America? The Vice president gives a nationally syndicated interview to tell everyone it "feels good" to tell people to "Fuck off".

What will we tell the children?

Seriously. Stop and think for one instant that Vice President Gore tells Trent Lott to go fuck himself on the senate floor. Then gives an interview with CNN saying how hes glad he did it and it "felt good". The Clinton shrugs it off saying its no big deal?

Here that Kids? The vice president says if it feels good, tell em to fuck off!

The collective outrage from the right could power Vegas for over a decade.

Haven't they suffered enough?

Saw the movie yesterday. my impressions, for wht its worth.

The 7 minute deer in headlights look on bush face after he was told we were being attacked was shocking. I mean ive read about it and seen brief snippets before, but watching the whole 7 minutes tick by, while he sits there confused and befuddled, reading a children’s book as 3000 people are dying, was just shocking.
There were some parts that were so genuinely moving it was incredible. The story of the mother who’s son is killed was the closest I’ve come to ever seeing anyone be able to portray something like that to someone who has no idea what its like. Just amazing.
There was another moment that was so effective. So many times when we see and hear images of 9/11 they are from video cameras, so they all have this low video sound. All the images of the planes are from far away so you cant hear anything. Moore cut to black and just had the sounds of the planes and the people screaming and running. Im not sure but I think the sounds of the planes were either created, or at the very least augmented, because they made the sound of the planes hitting this gigantic horrible sound that shook the theater, then screams an crying, and then the sound of an approaching plane, and another horrible sound. Even thought here was no video, it left the most sickening feeling.
And then Moore slowly faded into images of the day but wisely didn’t once (as far as I can remember) show the buildings, or the flames, or the bodies. It was all video of peoples reactions. Disbelief, praying, crying. The image of one woman just looking up and screaming “oh my god there jumping” was just horrible.
The rest of the movie was all impressive. I think the Saudi bush link thing is a little overdone. Theres so much bigger targets, but he only had 2 hours. Showing a glimpse of what its like on the ground with the troops is eye opening. Scared stupid kids who are surrounded by people who hate them.

Paul Wolfowitz’s hygiene is as disgusting as his politics.

Ashcroft is legitimately insane.

Like the other reviewers have said, it works better when Moore is offscreen and just lets the camera tell the story. The story of the mother, and the story of the Christmas eve with the troops, really worked. The schticky Moore reading the patriot act in an ice-cream truck, not so much. And those recruiters at the mall were creepy.
I don’t like Moore much since his columbine movie was full of factual mistakes, but this one from what I’ve read gets everything right, and it is amazingly effective. Once you see it, you realize why all the rightwingers are deathly afraid of it.
And by the way, we were at the Sunday matinee at 4 pm, and it was packed to the rafters. The movie made history and was #1 this weekend with 21 million.

Thumbs up.

Now watch this drive.

Right wingnut Phyllis Schlaffly on the unproven allegations of two (the third was proven obviously..) women against Bill Clinton (one who later admitting to changing her story and lying to the FBI)

he used vulnerable women (Monica, Paula, Kathleen) to gratify his sexual wants

Right wingnut Phyllis Schlaffly when an unproven sexual allegation is made against a Republican:

Phyllis Schlafly, founder of the conservative Eagle Forum, said she continues to support Ryan's candidacy, saying the charges were the unproven byproduct of a nasty custody fight.

"Sure they're disturbing. They're unpleasant," she said. "But considering where they're coming from, I would wait for the proof before judging him."

Our Vice President on the Floor of the united States Senate to a United States Senator:

"Go fuck yourself"

Townhall.com is an invaluable resource of patently insane idiots. And nothing get these loons into a bigger fronth then mentioning the big dog.

I enjoy this one by Suzanne Fields on how Clinton is the scumbag, but Juanita Broaderick, the admitted liar and perjurer is “Credible”.

Or when she presents Kathleen Willey’s allegations as fact. Not even a “Willey, who accused Clinton of…”, she just says as fact that He harassed her. Of course, no mention that Willey was deemed as not being a credible witness by the Independant Council because she also commited perjury and also lied to the FBI (a crime).

Jesus, if I was there I'd have killed myself.

Fahrenheit 9/11” opens tomorrow, and one celeb has already weighed in with an unofficial rave. A source was sitting behind Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher at the Hollywood premiere and says that Moore was “really, really vocal” throughout the Bush-bashing documentary.
“She was hollering and cheering at the screen and yelling things at Bush,” says the source. “And she was pumping the air with her fist and saying things like, ‘That was really harsh' and ‘That was really crucial.’ ”

Hartford Courant Today:
Ray Bradbury, author of the classic science-fiction book "Fahrenheit 451," is burning mad over Moore's appropriation of his title for his Bush-whacking documentary, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer.

"No. 1?, he didn't ask, and No. 2?, he took it - period," said the celebrated fantasy writer, whose 1953 novel gave Moore the inspiration for his "Fahrenheit 9/11" title. "What he has done is a crime."

Now that Rowland is resigning in disgrace to avoid being impeached for his vast corruption, and as he still awaits possible federal criminal indictment, lets go to the Courant editorial page from December of last year:

John Rowland, Straight And Strong
December 9, 2003

What's in a name? If it is Rowland, it means many things: generations of devotion to God, country and community.
It is truly too bad that a once- reputable newspaper, The Hartford Courant, has to sink so low as to try to debase my son and the Rowland name.
Truly, our rights are being eroded, and the right to privacy seems to be a target, too.
As the mother of Gov. John G. Rowland, and as a private citizen, I sadly protest these accusations.
John is straight and strong, as his father and I reared him to be.
His legacy will survive, perhaps longer than The Courant.

Cerie Rowland
Southbury

Since the big dogs book is coming out I’m sure we will be inundated with pundits talking about nothing else than Monica Lewinsky and replaying ad nauseum his lie about his “sexual relations”. It will be as if the entire amazingly successful 8 year presidency will never have happened. Oh well, That’s the liberal media for you. But in between the endless right wing tirades about what a liar Clinton is because he tried to cover up a blow job, you might miss this (From Altercation):

Transcript, CNBC’s “Capital Report,” June 17, 2004
Gloria Borger: “Well, let’s get to Mohammed Atta for a minute, because you mentioned him as well. You have said in the past that it was quote, “pretty well confirmed.”
Vice President Cheney: No, I never said that.
BORGER: OK.
Vice Pres. CHENEY: Never said that.
BORGER: I think that is...
Vice Pres. CHENEY: Absolutely not.
Transcript, NBC’s “Meet the Press,” December 9, 2001.
Vice-President Cheney: “It’s been pretty well confirmed that he did go to Prague and he did meet with a senior official of the Iraqi intelligence service in Czechoslovakia last April.”

They lie so much and so often, its not even news anymore.

Connecticut Governer Rowland resigning in disgrace.

ITs about time. He's been stalling the impeachment inquiry for months, dragging it out, throwing all sorts of legal challenges at it. THis weekend was the last straw, as his legal case where he was arguing executive priviledge should keep him from being subpoenad was shot down. He was refusign to testify, and now that he was elgally determined that he must, it adds yet another impeachable offense.

If anyone is unaware, the recap. He has for years collected gifts, money, vacations, a hot tub for his cottage, etc.. in return for favors like granting contracts, appointing judges, etc. THe list is amazingly long. And I havent even brought up the whole 220 million enron theft he was knee deep in.

Quite refreshing really. An Impeachment inquiry about actual corruption, as opposed to a blow job. I personally was hoping he would stay on and get impeached. Resigning he gets off easy.

Barry Bonds, ever the charmer.

"Boston is too racist for me,'' he said. "I couldn't play there.''

It is a judgment, he acknowledges, not derived of firsthand experience -- he missed the 1999 All-Star Game, played in Boston, because of an injury -- but on word-of-mouth.

"Only what guys have said," he said, "but that's been going on ever since my dad [Bobby] was playing baseball. I can't play like that. That's not for me, brother."

When it was suggested the racial climate has changed in Boston, Bonds demurred.

"It ain't changing," he said. "It ain't changing nowhere."

They built a tunnel to honor Ted Williams in Boston. What did he imagine would be built for him?

"Nothing, man," he said. "I'm black. They don't build stuff for blacks."

Oliver North on The Ronald Reagan I knew

When my children's children ask me about Ronald Reagan, I will tell them that I was blessed to serve -- as they are to live -- in a country that can produce such a great leader at precisely the time when he is most needed.

Oliver North did not attend, and was not invited to the funeral. The reason is because of what Nancy Reagan thinks of him:

"Ollie North has a great deal of trouble separating fact from fantasy."

"he lied to my husband and lied about my husband kept things from him he should not have kept from him. And that's what I think of Ollie North."

So when Nancy Reagans grandchildren, and someday even my childrens children ask me about the Oliver North we knew. We'll tell them the same thing.

He was a lying sack of shit.

Donald Rumsfeld personally ordered an Iraqi prisoner to be hidden from the red cross and kept "off the books" violating itnernational law and the geneva conventions.

The Pentagons defense was pure Clintonian.

Pentagon officials still insist Rumsfeld acted legally, but admit it all depends on how you interpret the law.

It all depends on the meaning of "legal"....

Of course, back when the Iraqis were showing pictures of proisnoers, here was Rumsfeld:

"That's a violation of the Geneva Convention, those pictures you showed," Rumsfeld said of the international law on treatment of prisoners of war. He said the convention prohibits the photographing or interrogation by media of those captured in battle.

I now hate this adminstration more than Ashton Kutchner.

Eric Alterman is threatening to sue Bill O’Reilly.

If he did actually go through with it and sue it would be a big waste of time. I do like that he is threatening to sue though (and I cannot wait for Mr. O’Lielly, the man behind the stupid Franken fair and balanced lawsuit, to complain about this one)

I get where Alterman is coming from. He, and many others on the left, are constantly and viciously smeared every day by the right and he’s trying to make a stand against the shitstorm of crap emanating from O’Lielly and others mouths. But when he was saying you were a “confidant of Castro” it wasn’t so much a lie, as a third grade insult. Third grade insults being the entire substance of Mr. O’Lielly’s career thus far (although to be fair, he IS looking out for me). Methinks Alterman is just calling mr “No Spin” out on his endless bullshit. And for that I say go for it.

On a related note, Stern was ripping O’Reilly yesterday and playing clips of him hocking his shitty merchandise on his show. The guy writes a book called “who’s looking out for you” and then urges you to hurry up and order his limited edition O’Reilly Factor paperweights at the low low price of 34.99!

Anyone who would buy that shit would also send money to Exiled Nigerians to help them launder their millions.

Morons.

This guy likes Lindsay Lohan more than I do.

I’m not sure whats better. His fan art, his "journal" (quite a frightening read) or his Ebay auction items (are those MINT galactic trading cards!).

MY favorite parts are his journal. hers just a sample.

Linds and I both love being performers.

Thanks for reading, check back, and keep your love of Lindsay in your heart.

And my favorite:
Last night some people who are still unidentified posted pictures across half of my college campus that were very embarrassing in that context. Were they bad pictures? Er, no, not really. Though quite easily misunderstood. If it was just that, perhaps maybe I wouldn't be quite so distressed. However, then there were harrassing phone calls, and last night someone poured laundry detergent underneath my room door. Pranks are one thing. This is getting out of hand. I'm hoping it's calmed down. I might go to the police if it continues and gets worse. Eh, what more can I do?

Man I need to know the rest of that story.

If you guys need me, I'll be in the forum, talking about Linds!

I was just thinking about my recent trip to Washington, where I was lucky enough to have a private tour of the capital. An amazing building layered in history. WE walked through the rotunda, the old SCOTUS chambers, the old House chambers, all the while learning stories (always get the privcate tour through your congressmans office, its much better). One was the famous one about Washingtons "tomb" and Lincolns Catafalque. They had a tomb built especially for Washington at the center of the capital (under the "Crypt" with the star that represents the center of Washington, where all 4 districts come together). Since Washington was never buried there it is where they keep the catafalque. It is rarely used. Only for heads of state and Supreme Court Justivces, with a few exceptions. Just a hastily constructed pieces of Pine.

Which Is why I am, well not "Excited" since it's a sad occasion, but in a strage way looking forward to Friday simply because this is the first time in a generation we've had a full fledged state funeral, with the lying in state in the rotunda, the procession with the riderless horse, all the tradition. It's important that people get to see it happen. IT hasn't really happened since Johnson. And that was 73.

If anyone gets time, you should visit the architect of the capital
website.
It is amazing.

This kills me

OK, I’m officially sick of it.

Clinton had a higher approval rating when he left office. Gallup poll from 2003 ranks Reagan 5th when asked who they greatest presidents were. Clinton was third (behind Lincoln and Kennedy)

Reagan signed into law the largest tax increase in modern history in 1982. Bigger than Clintons. The economic recovery that happened was after the tax increases were in effect. His supply side BS did nothing but damage.

Welfare grew under Reagan.

Government grew under Reagan.

The deficit grew under Reagan.

He was a factor in ending the soviet union to be sure. He did not single handedly bring them down.

Yet I listen to all these sycophants talk about Reagan’s ideals of smaller government, cutting welfare, lower taxes, and they act like Reagan’s rhetoric is the same as reality. Grieve the man. Praise him. But that doesn’t give you licence to make shit up.

Now would be a good time to start compiling a list of the people who, after deliberatly distorting what happened at the wellstone memorial, then expressed their public moral outrage at co-opting a memorial for partisan political gain.

I have a feeling this list will come in handy.

Say what you will about Reagans policies and how its affected our country, but think about this:

Can you imagine Reagan giving a speech and saying:
"the Senate is more interested in special interests in Washington and not interested in the security of the American people."

American officials reported that in the cable to Tehran, the Iranian official recounted how Mr. Chalabi had said that one of "them" — a reference to an American — had revealed the code-breaking operation, the officials said. The Iranian reported that Mr. Chalabi said the American was drunk.

What gets me isn’t so much the constant lies, but that they are such transparently obvious lies. Huge fucking whopper Dennis Rodman “the girl fell outta the sky into my bed baby” lies.

Bush: Chalabi? My meetings with him were very brief. I mean, I think I met with him at the state of the union and just kind of working through the rope line, and he might have come with a group leaders. But I haven't had any extensive conversations with him.

WTF? I mean its like he doesn’t eve try to make em good lies anymore. “The British learned”. That was a freaking work of art. Cuz you see, technically it’s true. That is what the British said, even though we knew it was false.

No one cares about quality anymore.

Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, the former friend and advisor to Michael Jackson, has attacked Madonna, calling her a “slut” and a “vulgarian.” In a startling essay for SomethingJewish.Co.UK, the Rabbi blasts Phillip Berg, the head of the Kabbalah Centre for letting the Material Girl be the religion’s highest-profile spokesperson.

I was going to insert the requisite snark, but its just gotten so obvious, why bother?
