Because face it.
I'm right, and you're wrong.

As a further testament to my compelte and utter partisan hackey, I present to you the film "A Remarkable Promise".

A 9 minute film about Kerry and his life, shown right before he gave his speech.

IT was done with the help of Steven Speilberg, and is narrated by Morgan Freeman. Its schmaltzy, and its got an agenda, to be sure. But its very well done.

I'd love to see the Bush version about his youth. Hearing Morgan Freeman's slow narration. ..

"As he walked up to the keg at the party, young Bush realized he didnt have his cup. Slowly he turned, and tthere, off in the distance, was an empty cup. He then filled it with beer, got shitfaced, and puked."

They are really starting to lose it over in GOP land. After spending 4 years of calling anyone who looked at them funny traitors, they are starting to run out of targets.

But not anymore!

Why does Jared hate America?

Kerry's speech

He started off nervous and unsure, which is unusual for Kerry. But he hit s stride and ended up giving.... An OK speech.

The man is not an orator. He isn't Edwards and he shouldn't even try to be. He was sweating, seemed ill at ease, but the words were there. Sometimes he would do a Clinton and just rattle off a bunch of spending programs he wants, which didn't thrill me. Had great lines, nailed Bush without personally attacking. I'm thrilled that they are using Bush's negativeness as one of their themes. After 4 years of constantly hearing about bringing a new tone, and restoring honor bullshit, they are ripe to be taken down a peg on this.

The west wing line was a dud. The mans just not funny.

He never once said a word about his anti war activities, which to me, are just as brave an act as what he did IN the war. But with all the smears being hurled at him about that subject, it was probably a tactical move.

Using Bush's own line about "help is on the way" from 4 year's ago was smart. Bush hyped up the bullshit charge about a "gutted military" and used that line. It was all crap of course. But now, with the backdoor draft, a military overextended to its breaking point, the charge is actually true. So its a good line, and a F you to Bush.

Bottom line. He got the job done, but didnt wow em like Edwards. So it all happened as expected.

Personally I am waiting for the debates. Thats where he can truly shine.

Edwards.

The mans got an incredible presence. Charm, charisma, and he uses it in a way that doesn’t come across as phony, smarmy, or grating. He just wins you over.

I’ve always liked him. I voted for him in the primaries. Hes just got a great story. Came from next to nothing, with his parents as poor low class laborers. Made his way through college, became hugely successful. I suppose I empathize with him more because he lost his 16 year old son in a car accident. And of all the speeches I’ve seen, I’ve never seen him use it as a ploy for sympathy. He mentioned his children briefly at the beginning of the speech and did what I do, mention all of them in the present tense. Nothing I hate more than people saying you “had” a brother/son/father etc..

His delivery started shaky. He was talking kinda fast, had a little drymouth. But after 5 minutes he hit his stride. And man he can deliver. He started with the sweeping oratory, threw in a few personal anecdotes, and then got into specifics. He gave props to his parents, who looked blown away by all of it. Mentioned that he is a member of the intelligence committee (to counter the whole "hes not ready BS"). And then had his damn good looking family come out and hug him. Seeing little Emma Claire run up to daddy for a hug. Schmaltzy stuff. I lapped it up.

I Loved it. But I’m a partisan hack predisposed to love it. Sow he I went over to FOX news just as it wrapped up, and all they could talk about was how it sounded like a “republican” speech. Which is right wing hack speak for “It was so good we can’t find anything to attack”.

Kerry ain't coming.

Fuck Scranton.

Micheal Moore Bitch slaps O'Reilly.

Kerry is visting my town of West Hartford on Friday.

Friday's rally is tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. at a small park located just off Interstate 84. Jepsen said the details of the visit could change, because the campaign is still making adjustments to Kerry's schedule.

They say it will be the park Road Exit. There is a small park right there, and the Town hall green a block away. I myself live right next to the town hall green. And I got friday off. So I'll be down there digital camera in tow.
Hopefully it'll be at the town hall green, because then I could literally watch him speak from my front porch, and probably get a previsit from the secret service doing a security sweep.

Barack Obama rocked the hizzouse.

Clinton reminded me how much I miss him.

Kennedy is really fat.

Dean sucked.

And Ronnie Jr. just acts smarmy.

My new Governor.

These days, she speaks wistfully of returning constituents' phone calls as a state representative, which she was 1985 to 1995, or of finishing that Harry Potter novel she's been listening to on CD for some time now.

When you ask a politician what there reading you hope its something intellectual, like maybe a biography of Churchill, or maybe even some Hemingway.

But mine is reading Harry Potter. On tape.

Found this on Conencticut Political Watch. A great blog about CT politics.

I suggest that we start a bit of an experiment. Line up all the manufactured outrage and invented asccusations "stufed in his socks!" regarding Sandy Berger, and contrast it with the same peoples reaction to this, which, shockingly, is not even being covered that much by the news media.

WASHINGTON — Sen. Richard Shelby (search) is the target of an ongoing Justice Department investigation into the leaking of the contents of classified phone intercepts received the day before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, congressional sources told FOX News. Justice Department officials briefed members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (search) in closed session Thursday on Capitol Hill, naming the Alabama Republican as the target of the leak probe.Law enforcement and congressional sources said the purpose of the briefing was to notify Congress of the department's intent to refer information collected to the Senate Select Committee on Ethics (search) for review

So my senator is up for reelection this fall. No, not that pile of crap Lieberman, who I will gladly vote against for the rest of my life. Chri Dodd. WHo my brother will be working for soon (hopefully).

Anyways, Dodd is a shoe in. But its always fun to see the schmuck they get to put up against him, so we can mock and ridicule. That mans name is Jack Orchulli.

Read his bio. Laughable doesnt even begin to describe it. How long hs he even lived in the state?

IT gets worse. Look at this "attack"
Jack Orchulli has been working in the real world since he was twelve: delivering on a deadline, leading diverse groups of people, and being fiscally responsible. Can you guess how many years Chris Dodd has spent in the real world…aka: not receiving a taxpayer-funded paycheck?

Gosh. Poor Dodd has beeen working in goevernmet for soooo long. Being a civil servant. Thats awful.

I don't mean to bust on the guy too much, since he will be annihilated and he knows it. But please. The best they could do was some fashion designer?

Regarding the Sandy Berger non issue leaked to try and take attention away from the 9/11 report.

This from MSNBC:

“Meanwhile, Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., chairman of the House Government Reform Committee, said Wednesday that his committee would also investigate Berger.

At best, we’re looking at tremendously irresponsible handling of highly classified information — some of which, I understand, has not yet been located,” Davis said. “At worst, his actions suggest an intentional effort to keep critical information away from the commission and the American public.”

At best, Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va Is a goddamned lying sack of shit. It is common knowledge that what Sandy Berger is accused of taking was copies of documents.

But hey, making it into a "clintons cronies are hiding their incompetence" bullshit story is an effective way of distracting from the non bullshit 9/11 report.

So kudos Mr. Davis. Whats it like to be a souless piece of garbage?

Bush's base.

It literally sounds like a cult. If the author interjects with a fact, he is laughed at and ridiculed.

Tuesday, July 20, 2004

Howard Stern has his Bulletin Board up on his website. He's been talking about it a lot, and posting on it a lot as well, along with everyone else on the show, and the wack packers.

Since they were completly overloaded with traffic they've shut down new registration for now, but I was one of the lucky ones to sign up early on. So I get the honor of being able to tell Chaunce and High pitched Erik that they should go F themselves in person.

And the avatars are freaking hilarious.

And so are some of the peoples screennames. "Steak for two for ONE!" and "KC's gerbil tube" are funny.

Resltless Restless.

Kerry is a flip flopper.

Bush 2000:
KING: So if a state were voting on gay marriage, you would suggestto that state not to approve it?BUSH: The state can do what they want to do. Don't try to trap me inthis state's issue like you're trying to get me into.

Bush: 2004:
Today, I call upon the Congress to promptly pass and to send to thestates for ratification an amendment to our Constitution defining andprotecting marriage as a union of a man and woman as husband andwife.

I Love Media Matters.org. Their transcripts of Bill O'Reilly just hammer home perfectly why he is such a fucking idiot.

Here is a recent exchange with a man who is an expert on all aspects of gay amrraige, including legal ones:

O'REILLY: Does it bother you at all, Mr. Wolfson, as an American citizen that in the state of Massachusetts, the activist judges there found a loophole. [...] In Massachusetts, they ruled that gay marriage was legal because the Supreme Court there found a loophole which said the legislature did not define marriage between a man and a woman.

WOLFSON: No, no, that's not correct.

O'REILLY: Yes, it is.

WOLFSON: No, please, it isn't. That is my area of expertise, and what they did say was that the constitution requires that when government discriminates, it has to show a reason. And they looked at all the reasons that the state put forward. And they found that not one stood up. The government is not able to show a reason. And...

O'REILLY: Yes. Yes, that may be your interpretation, but the ruling came down -- I think it was four to three ... that gay marriage was OK because the legislature in the Commonwealth did not specifically ban it.

WOLFSON: No...

O'REILLY: That's the fact.

WOLFSON: Well, no, that's not the fact.

Now here is the exact same debate with a different subject:

O'REILLY: Does it bother you at all sir, that the sky is yellow and I shit toasters?

SANE HUMAN BEING: No, I think you're wrong about that.

O'REILLY: No I am not. I am telling the truth.

SANE HUMAN BEING: No, you're wrong. As you can see the sky is blue, and that is not the smell of a toaster I am detecting.

O'REILLY: That may be your interpretation sir, but clearly the object I am now smearing all over myself that just fell out of my ass is in fact a toaster.

SANE HUMAN BEING: Please stop.

O'REILLY: [begins to eat his own shit and squaks like a bird] It's a fact. It's a fact!

Well hello there.

Yeah, I can see you too.

Yeah. Its soo windy isn’t it. Do you like that?

Thats it. Lick it up. Don't let it spill all over.

You're my little princess aren't you?

DO you mind if she joins us?

This my Cialis.

Wonkette has the complete list of FOX news memo’s from their senior news editor John Moody. These are the memos he sends out to the entire staff at the beginning of the day advising them about what to cover. That they still pretend to be “fair and Balanced” just continues to make them the laughingstock of real journalism.

Moodys tepid response to their leaking was:

In an interview with The Post, Moody rejects "the implication that I'm controlling the news coverage," saying of his 1,200 employees: "People are free to call me or message me and say, 'I think you're off base.' Sometimes I take the advice, sometimes I don't."

Yeah, im sure there “Free’ to say the boss is off base. Like Brit Hume is gonna stand up and say “hey, this is a little to conservatively biased! Can we just report the news!”

As to the memo’s. Here’s the juiciest parts. My personal favorite is everytime the 9/11 commission is mentioned he alwas calls it the “so called” 9/11 commission. It’s like the scribblings of a petulant child.

Into Fallujah: It's called Operation Vigilant Resolve and it began Monday morning (NY time) with the US and Iraqi military surrounding Fallujah. We will cover this hour by hour today, explaining repeatedly why it is happening. It won't be long before some people start to decry the use of "excessive force." We won't be among that group. . . More than 600 US military dead, attacks on the UN headquarters last year, assassination of Irai officials who work with the coalition, the deaths of Spanish troops last fall, the outrage in Fallujah: whatever happens, it is richly deserved.

Let's spend a good deal of time on the battle over judicial nominations, which the President will address this morning. Nominees who both sides admit are qualified are being held up because of their POSSIBLE, not demonstrated, views on one issue -- abortion. This should be a trademark issue for FNC today and in the days to come.

The president is doing something that few of his predecessors dared undertake: putting the US case for mideast peace to an Arab summit. It's a distinctly skeptical crowd that Bush faces. His political courage and tactical cunning are worth noting in our reporting through the day.

John Kerry may wish he'd taken off his microphone before trashing the GOP. Though he insists he meant republican "attack squads," his coarse description of his opponents has cast a lurid glow over the campaign.

Kerry, starting to feel the heat for his flip-flop voting record, is in West Virginia. There's a near-meaningless primary in Illinois.

The so-called 9/11 commission has already been meeting. In fact, this is the eighth session. The fact that former Clinton and both frmer and current Bush administration officials are testifying gives it a certain tension, but this is not "what did he know and when did he know it" stuff. Do not turn this into Watergate. Remember the fleeting sense of national unity that emerged from this tragedy. Let's not desecrate that.

For everyone's information, the hotel where our Baghdad bureau is housed was hit by some kind of explosive device overnight. ALL FOX PERSONNEL ARE OK. The incident is a reminder of the danger our colleagues in Baghdad face, day in and day out. Please offer a prayer of thanks for their safety to whatever God you revere (and let the ACLU stick it where the sun don't shine).

As the witness list indicates, today is likely to be the apex of the so-called 9/11 commission hearings. Tenet, Clarke, and Clinton NSC advisor Berger all testify. We will carry their statements, along with he Q&A, live. Remember that while there are obvious political implications for Bush, the commission is looking at eight years of the Clinton Administration versus eight months (the time prior to 9/11 that Bush was in office) for the incumbent.

Air America, featuring Al Franken and other liberals, got on the air last week, but at what cost? Well, in New York, it took the place of an ethnic show. In LA, it knocked off a Korean program. And in CHicago,a spanish language broadcast was replaced. None of these people are happy.

Condoleeza Rice's testimony will still be picked apart by those looking to blame someone, whether it's Bush or Clinton, for September 11. Let's not forget UBL's share of that blame.

Ribbons or medals? Which did John Kerry throw away after he returned from Vietnam. This may become an issue for him today. His perceived disrespect for the military could be more damaging to the candidate than questions about his actions in uniform.

The president and VP are MEETING with the 9/11 commission. They are NOT testifying before it as did witnesses last week. It is an important distinction that we need to make.
The president goes to Michigan, accompanied by a powerful campaign asset, the first lady.

Thursday update: the pictures from Abu Graeb prison are disturbing. They have rightly provoked outrage. Today we have a picture -- aired on Al Arabiya -- of an American hostage being held with a scarf over his eyes, clearly against his will. Who's outraged on his behalf?

For those of you with Ipods. This and this are worth downloading.

I like to listen to it as I run.

One can only hope this honesty spreads.

A friend in a Yahoo policital (yes, i am that much of a dork) group made this point. Its a good one.

Tell a lie often enough and the morons in base will believe it and the smarter ones will repeat it because it works.

This is funny. GOt it from Norbizness, who got it from Waxy.org.

My favorite was the guy who called Norah Jones album "100% rectum".

Ah to be bored at work in the internet age....

Anyone ever wonder what happened to slimeball, Clinton hating, proud keynote speaker at the racist Council of Concerned Citizens annual meeting (but denied he was a racist) Congressman Bob Barr?

ME neither. But If you were interested, he's now the lawyer to go to when you’re a white supremacists.

Theone thing I'll remember from this article is that Cameron From Ferris Bueller's Day off was 30 years old when he made the movie.

THat and it was a slow freaking entertainment news day. Other than that Brando guy.

We're in good hands.
