As a further testament to my compelte and utter partisan hackey, I present to you the film "A Remarkable Promise".

A 9 minute film about Kerry and his life, shown right before he gave his speech.

IT was done with the help of Steven Speilberg, and is narrated by Morgan Freeman. Its schmaltzy, and its got an agenda, to be sure. But its very well done.

I'd love to see the Bush version about his youth. Hearing Morgan Freeman's slow narration. ..

"As he walked up to the keg at the party, young Bush realized he didnt have his cup. Slowly he turned, and tthere, off in the distance, was an empty cup. He then filled it with beer, got shitfaced, and puked."

They are really starting to lose it over in GOP land. After spending 4 years of calling anyone who looked at them funny traitors, they are starting to run out of targets.

But not anymore!

Why does Jared hate America?

Kerry's speech

He started off nervous and unsure, which is unusual for Kerry. But he hit s stride and ended up giving.... An OK speech.

The man is not an orator. He isn't Edwards and he shouldn't even try to be. He was sweating, seemed ill at ease, but the words were there. Sometimes he would do a Clinton and just rattle off a bunch of spending programs he wants, which didn't thrill me. Had great lines, nailed Bush without personally attacking. I'm thrilled that they are using Bush's negativeness as one of their themes. After 4 years of constantly hearing about bringing a new tone, and restoring honor bullshit, they are ripe to be taken down a peg on this.

The west wing line was a dud. The mans just not funny.

He never once said a word about his anti war activities, which to me, are just as brave an act as what he did IN the war. But with all the smears being hurled at him about that subject, it was probably a tactical move.

Using Bush's own line about "help is on the way" from 4 year's ago was smart. Bush hyped up the bullshit charge about a "gutted military" and used that line. It was all crap of course. But now, with the backdoor draft, a military overextended to its breaking point, the charge is actually true. So its a good line, and a F you to Bush.

Bottom line. He got the job done, but didnt wow em like Edwards. So it all happened as expected.

Personally I am waiting for the debates. Thats where he can truly shine.

Edwards.

The mans got an incredible presence. Charm, charisma, and he uses it in a way that doesn’t come across as phony, smarmy, or grating. He just wins you over.

I’ve always liked him. I voted for him in the primaries. Hes just got a great story. Came from next to nothing, with his parents as poor low class laborers. Made his way through college, became hugely successful. I suppose I empathize with him more because he lost his 16 year old son in a car accident. And of all the speeches I’ve seen, I’ve never seen him use it as a ploy for sympathy. He mentioned his children briefly at the beginning of the speech and did what I do, mention all of them in the present tense. Nothing I hate more than people saying you “had” a brother/son/father etc..

His delivery started shaky. He was talking kinda fast, had a little drymouth. But after 5 minutes he hit his stride. And man he can deliver. He started with the sweeping oratory, threw in a few personal anecdotes, and then got into specifics. He gave props to his parents, who looked blown away by all of it. Mentioned that he is a member of the intelligence committee (to counter the whole "hes not ready BS"). And then had his damn good looking family come out and hug him. Seeing little Emma Claire run up to daddy for a hug. Schmaltzy stuff. I lapped it up.

I Loved it. But I’m a partisan hack predisposed to love it. Sow he I went over to FOX news just as it wrapped up, and all they could talk about was how it sounded like a “republican” speech. Which is right wing hack speak for “It was so good we can’t find anything to attack”.

Kerry ain't coming.

Fuck Scranton.

Micheal Moore Bitch slaps O'Reilly.

Kerry is visting my town of West Hartford on Friday.

Friday's rally is tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. at a small park located just off Interstate 84. Jepsen said the details of the visit could change, because the campaign is still making adjustments to Kerry's schedule.

They say it will be the park Road Exit. There is a small park right there, and the Town hall green a block away. I myself live right next to the town hall green. And I got friday off. So I'll be down there digital camera in tow.
Hopefully it'll be at the town hall green, because then I could literally watch him speak from my front porch, and probably get a previsit from the secret service doing a security sweep.

Barack Obama rocked the hizzouse.

Clinton reminded me how much I miss him.

Kennedy is really fat.

Dean sucked.

And Ronnie Jr. just acts smarmy.

My new Governor.

These days, she speaks wistfully of returning constituents' phone calls as a state representative, which she was 1985 to 1995, or of finishing that Harry Potter novel she's been listening to on CD for some time now.

When you ask a politician what there reading you hope its something intellectual, like maybe a biography of Churchill, or maybe even some Hemingway.

But mine is reading Harry Potter. On tape.

Found this on Conencticut Political Watch. A great blog about CT politics.
